mHealth for Development ... The Opportunity of Mobile Technology for Healthcare in the Developing World

Our heartfelt thanks to MedTech-IQ member, Adrian, for forwarding to us this comprehensive report on mHealth from the United Nations Foundation and the Vodafone Foundation.
The report has three main points: (1) to support the use of rapid response mobile
telecommunications to aid disaster relief; (2) to develop health data systems that improve access to health data thereby helping to combat disease; and (3) to promote research and innovative initiatives using technology as an agent and tool for international development.
The authors suggest meeting health needs through a broad array of applications including:
- Education and Awareness
- Remote Data Collection
- Remote Monitoring
- Communication and Training for Healthcare Workers
- Disease and Epidemic Outbreak Tracking
- Diagnostics and Treatment Support
