Federal Agency - HRSA - Awards $18.9M in Grants for EHRs & Health IT

HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $18.9 million in grants to help 25 organizations implement electronic health records and other health IT, Government Health IT reports.

HRSA officials said the grants will help meet the Bush administration's goal for most U.S. residents to have EHRs by 2014.

DoD "Opens" Up

Under the auspices of its Chief Information Officer, the DoD will shortly release an important department-wide memorandum clarifying policy on open-source as part of 'acceptable' DoD software.
