Apple (Computer)?

Remember when Apple was Apple Computer? I don't know if I'm the only member of this network who has speculated on when Apple would finally shake up it's laptop line, which apart from "Air", has really grown long-in-the-tooth. For those of you who follow these things, today is the day. The rumor mills have been ripe with anticipation over 'breakout' vs incremental change.… Continue

Microsoft Seeing the Light?

Interesting article on Microsoft release of Silverlight 2, compatible with 'Rich Internet Application", an open-sourced platform for developing media content. Google and Apple: In the Clouds

Thought-provoking article from HowStuffWorks that explains in simple terms the evolution of cloud computing, and the derivative implications for a global thin-client architecture. The author also dreams of the perfect marriage between Google and Apple, and how that union would influence the future of "clouds". BTW, Check out HowStuffWorks on the WWW; it's a real FUN site!!!

Android Impacts iPhone

WOW! Even faster than expected, Google's open mobile architecture (Android), has shaken the folks at Apple who must see these new devices as the first real threat to iPhone hegemony in this market space. Apple just announced that it is dropping its NDA requirements for developers of already released iPhone software ... a bit confusing and I grant still a way from a completely open architecture, but every step counts. Let a thousand flowers grow. See… Continue

Google Android Is Here

My bona fides:

1) I'm a technophile, not a technologist

2) I have had a love-hate relationship with Apple™, going back to 1987. Be it the PowerBook, the iPod, or the iPhone, Apple's entry into a market-space is not merely a game changer, but more elemental, a market "definer". The Apple user experience is truly nonpareil. That said, the company has historically been driven by proprietary closed systems that inhibit/punish any collaboration from "unapproved" sources.

3) I… Continue

Wal-Mart is one of eight companies involved in Dossia. This could be an interesting development on the tail of the GoogleHealth, Microsoft HealthVault & Aetna PHR launches. Are we approaching a tipping point?
