Profile Information

Area of Expertise or Interest?
I've worked in health IT and healthcare public relations, communications, marketing and research for 25 years. Most recently I worked at the Armed Forces Services Corporation in Strategic Communications and as the Manager of Corporate Communications. I was the technical writer on the Army's Acute and Chronic Pain Task Force report to the Army SG delivered in May 2010. I founded a health IT communications consulting business--H.I.T. Communications, LLC--in Sept 2008. Clients include the HIMSS Foundation's Institute for e-Health Policy, where I served as Manager of Public Policy Initiatives; the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved; and Visionary Consulting Partners, LLC. Before coming to the Institute in Sept 2008 I worked in the Military Health System TRICARE Communications and Customer Service directorate as a senior healthcare analyst and strategic communications specialist, and then as the Communications and Marketing specialist during the deployment of AHLTA, the military's electronic health record, for four years. I worked for the academic medical center and the Virginia Health Policy Institute at the University of Virginia while in Grad School, and had the good fortune to meet and be mentored by Dr. Don Detmer. While at UVA I was a researcher on a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant, a Virginia Dept of Medical Assistance Services grant to examine subjectivity in the nursing home licensure process, and worked in the Center for Survey Research. Other experience includes Director of Public Relations at Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Hospital and Manager of Marketing Communications at St. Mary's Hospital, both in Richmond, VA.

Reginald,

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the Institute's 24 September "Technology Showcase". I am already committed to the Palm Springs ATA Mid-Year meeting. Someone has to do it, I guess!

That said, I am very interested in the Institute event, and maximizing its impact for the MedTech-IQ community. I have sent Neal an email seeking his permission to announce the event to the "MedTech-IQ" community.

Also, I seek your advice. Given the wide variety of technology, and the high impact speakers associated with the event, I think it is important to have a number of "Blog" entries posted from the showcase, and the presentations that follow. I would love to do it myself, but as noted earlier, I will not be there.

Do you have any recommendations for who might be a good "Blog" creator for the showcase? I will work with the individual to ensure they are technically up to date on uploading posts, video, photos, ect...

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and your continued participation in the "MedTech-IQ" community.

With Warm Regards,

Conrad "CC" Clyburn
