SUMMARY:BSEC 2010: Annual ORNL Biomedical Science and Engineering Conf
erence: Biomedical Research and Analysis in Neuroscience (BRAiN)
DESCRIPTION:The Biomedical Science and Engineering Center (BSEC) at th
e Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is holding its annual conferenc
e on May 25-26, 2010, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. BSEC is the lead organi
zer/sponsor. The conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Engineering in
Medicine and Biology and Biology Society (EMBS).\n\nConference Theme:
\n\nThe Biomedical Science and Engineering Center at Oak Ridge Nationa
l Laboratory announces its annual conference. This year's theme focuse
s on Biomedical Research and Analysis in Neurosceince (BRAIN). The con
ference goals are to: 1) identify the cross-cutting, interdisciplinary
tools and applications needed by the medical and sceintific neuroscei
nce communities in the areas of brain injury (military and civilian) a
nd neuro-regeneration, and 2) facilitate the dialogue and collaboratio
ns necessary to address neuroscience topics of national interest.\n\nP
apers and Posters are invited for the following topics, with specific
emphasis on brain injuries and neuro-regeneration:\n\n* Neuroscience/B
iomedical Informatics: Data acquisition, integration, mining, accessib
ility, multi-modal assessment, computational data management and integ
ration\n* Computational Models for Neuroscience: Predictive models, me
chanistic models, statistical models, 3D and 4D simulations and visual
izations, models of behavioral outcomes\n* Neuroscience Measurement Im
aging Science: Imaging of the brain and neuro-anatomy, image processin
g, integration, diagnostic and detections devices, surgical and optica
l tools\n* Neuroscience/Neuroanatomy: Topics related to the sensory co
rtex and retina (independent from the sensory cortex), neuro-prostheti
