Event Description

The Serious Games Initiative founded Games for Health to develop a community and best practices platform for the numerous games being built for health care applications. To date the project has brought together researchers, medical professionals, and game developers to share information about the impact games and game technologies can have on health care and policy.

Comment by Parvati Dev on June 2, 2009 at 12:01am: Just a note that I will be participating in a panel on "Deconstructing Pamoja Mtaani - a videogame to Promote Youth-focused HIV Prevention". The game development was sponsored by the US State Department as part of the PEPFAR program, as a public-private partnership. Warner Bros was the primary developer of the game. The game was launched in Nairobi, Kenya, and will be evaluated for its efficacy in changing perception of risky behavior among Kenyan youth.
