This year’s conference has been designed to introduce the health IT government and business communities to the health IT programs, policies, and people that the new administration has chosen to clear a path to healthcare transformation. Two tracks will be connected by keynote and plenary presentations that underline the theme of this year’s Government Health IT Conference: Driving Transformation Through Government Health IT.
At the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is located in the heart of Washington, DC, within walking distance of the White House, the Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, many other historical sites.
Policy and Strategy: From Legislation to Action
This track will include a panel update on the status of the National Health Information Network (NHIN) Phase III project; a discussion about the public health grid; an overview of a personalized healthcare resource for family health history; an overview of Community Health Initiatives by the Davies Award Winner Arkansas White River Community Hospital; and consumer perspective of the impact of healthcare on veterans and retired veterans.
Demonstrating the Value of Interoperability
The second track will feature discussions on key policies, many of them spelled out in the recent American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, intended to pave the way toward achieving President Obama’s 5-year goal of national health information interoperability. Topics include a panel presentation on the impact of stimulus on privacy; an overview on the Interagency Program Office; an update on the HIT Policy and HIT Standards Committee; ARRA and certification; health IT and comparative effectiveness; and a discussion on attributes of the new health IT workforce encompassing health IT extension service and training.
