SUMMARY:How People with Depression Think - How to Help
DESCRIPTION:Training Options  Duration: 60 Minutes  Training Option
 s  Duration: 60 Minutes  Monday, October 22, 2018   |   10:00 A
M PDT | 01:00 PM EDTOverview: Humans are thinking machines and most pe
ople have similar thought processes. Most people have reasonable, mea
sured, moderate thoughts. And while there are many variations on this
theme, these thoughts occur on a bell curve with most people being in
the meaty part of the curve. Those with major depressive disorder (ma
jor depression), however, often have very extreme thoughts and their
thought processes often exist on the very far ends of the bell curve.
This can make understanding how a person with major depression acts v
ery challenging as these actions are driven by thought processes the
average person doesn't experience. While these thoughts may seem “c
razy” at first, it's important to realize that these thoughts are si
mply an extreme part of the human experience that do fall along a con
tinuum that is experienced by everyone. Understanding these thought p
rocesses is the first step in understanding why a person with major d
epression does what he or she does and how you can help a person with
major depression deal with his or her own illness either from a perso
nal or professional perspective. This knowledge will breed a deeper u
nderstanding of the experience of this serious mental illness and incr
ease compassion towards those facing it. That's where this webinar c
omes in. This webinar aims to give attendees a look into the brain of
a person with major depressive disorder. Attendees will learn importa
nt facts about depression. The attendee will also hear about general
thought processes present in major depression as well as specific cog
nitive distortions such as mental filtering and labeling and how they
appear in those with major depression. Techniques on how to help some
one experiencing distorted thoughts are given and helpful therapies a
re outlined. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to ask questions
of the instructor who, herself, has been dealing with major depressio
n as a part of bipolar disorder for 20 years and openly shares her ow
n experiences with the illness. igma both in private and public settin
gs both for those with mental illness and for professionals. Current
anti-stigma strategies and politically correct language will also be
discussed. The attendee will leave this webinar with a greater unders
tanding of the many facets of mental illness stigma and armed with st
rategies to fight those negative effects.Speaker Profile Natasha Trac
y is an award-winning writer, speaker, advocate and bipolar disorder e
xpert. She has written thousands of articles on all manner of mental
 illness and mental health topics.Price - $139Contact Info:Netzealous L
