  to improve product reliability, there are many possible reasons for c
 ollecting and analyzing reliability data. Several examples are the fol

 uct warranty costs\nEstimate replacement part/spares requirements\nAss
 essing the effect of a proposed design change\nDemonstrating product r
 eliability to customers or government agencies\nComparing components f
 rom multiple suppliers\nComparing components from different production
  periods, operating environments, or materials\nImproving reliability 
 through the use of laboratory experiments\n\nParticipants will gain aw
 areness of the overall methodology for setting reliability targets, es
 timating product reliability from test data and/or field data, and det
 ermining whether or not reliability targets are achieved. Methods for 
 estimating the reliability of subsystems and systems are also discusse
