SUMMARY:Webinar On ADHD: Diagnosis and Subtyping
DESCRIPTION:Overview: In this program Dr. Barkley provides detailed in
formation on the specific nature of ADHD symptoms as revealed by clini
cal research so as to better inform the current diagnostic criteria fo
r ADHD. He then reviews the various modifications necessary for updati
ng the DSM criteria and making them more useful with special populatio
ns (girls, adults, etc.).\nHe also addresses the changes that are stil
l needed to improve these diagnostic criteria based on findings in the
research literature. Dr. Barkley then addresses the issue of subtypin
g of ADHD along with the emerging conclusion that one form of the inat
tentive type may constitute a new disorder known in research as sluggi
sh cognitive tempo or sometimes called ADD by clinicians. Why should
you Attend: Attendance will familiarize you with the latest criteria
for diagnosing ADHD in children and adults including not just the DSM-
5 criteria, but also the modifications that are essential for applying
those diagnostic criteria to special populations (girls, adults, etc.
). These modifications were well documented in research over the past
decade yet went ignored in the final version of DSM-5. You will find t
hat clinicians can not afford to ignore such evidenced-based adjustmen
ts that permit a more rigorous approach to the diagnosis of ADHD than
that permitted in the DSM-5 criteria. These criteria will also be fu
rther informed by the latest clinical research perspective on the natu
re of ADHD as a disorder of executive functioning and self-regulation.
The clinical implications of this perspective are far more useful for
understanding the management of ADHD than is the attention deficit pe
rspective. Furthermore, those attending will learn about the new dis
order of attention known as sluggish cognitive tempo that has come to
replace the earlier Inattentive Type of ADHD, a subtype no longer reco
gnized in DSM-5 as it has been demoted to a presentation. You won’t
want to miss out on these cutting edge discoveries and their clinical
implications as presented by an international authority on ADHD who tr
acks the published research findings weekly and brings those findings
 into his presentations.\nPrice - $139Contact Info:Netzealous LLC - Men
