As reported in the Puget Sound Business Journal...Ultrasound device maker SonoSite Inc. said fiscal 2008 revenues and profitability set records.

For fiscal 2008, revenue rose to $243.5 million from $205 million a year earlier. Net income rose to $20.6 million, or $1.18 per diluted share, from $6.9 million, or 40 cents per diluted share in fiscal 2007.

For the fourth quarter, the Bothell company (NASDAQ: SONO) reported net income of $12.1 million, or 69 cents per share, and revenue of $70.2 million. That compares with net income of $4.3 million, or 25 cents per diluted share, and revenue of $65 million...

Non-ionizing radiation sells. Admittedly this is small potatoes but people want ultrasound in more locations than simply the radiology department. Its still an open question in many settings what the value proposition is and the of course, the incredible degree of operator dependence on creating diagnostic ultrasounds shouldn't be discounted. All that said, congratulations to Sonosite!
