Colleagues,
As reported in the Frederick News-Post ... The
Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) oversees $400 million of medically related science and engineering research projects. Many of these projects are funded by Congressional Appropriations, SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research), STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) or U.S. Army R&D (Research and Development) programs.
... In practical terms, that means everything from virtual-reality rigs for training surgeons, chemical, biological and explosive agent detectors, and robots capable of identifying and diagnosing battlefield casualties ... All these technologies were on display last Thursday at the center's Advanced Medical Technology Expo.
... The center's mission is "to come up with solutions for the warfighter and then get them into the hands of the warfighter," said Col. Ron Poropatich, the center's deputy commander.
