The Cutting Edge of Medical Technology Content, Community & Collaboration

Colleagues,

As reported in various publications ... Boston based, American Well, an online healthcare delivery company that provides a Web-based system in use by several large health plans to let their members consult with doctors over the Internet, has raised $10 million in new equity funding, according to regulatory filings...

... Its Online Care system allows consumers to connect with physicians immediately, whenever they have a health need, from their homes or offices. The innovation uses advanced Web-based technologies and telephony to remove traditional barriers to healthcare access, including insurance coverage, geography, mobility and time constraints. Online Care is growing rapidly and is currently offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Hawaii, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, OptumHealth (a business of UnitedHealth Group) and TriWest Healthcare Alliance...

... The documents don’t name the funders in the round, continuing the company’s track record of secrecy around the amount of financing it’s raised and the identities of its investors...

ENJOY!
