Event Description

Overview:

How many felonies did you commit today? Seems like a silly question to ask of a dental practice doesn't it?

When we think of a felony, we think of armed bank robbery or something equally as sinister Yet dental practices commit felonies every day, they just don't know it. In a practice most, felonies that are committed have to do with fraud.

Fraud doesn't have to be intentional to be prosecuted and auxiliaries are not exempt from prosecution.

Serious errors and policies such as this could result in a range of actions, including fines, license suspension, or even incarceration.

My passion is to help practices remain protected and profitable.

Why you should Attend: Attendees will learn the skills necessary for achieving diagnostic excellence, how coding incorrectly can put both your practice and license at risk, coding for legitimate reimbursement and protecting the practice through proper documentation.

Attendees will gain the understanding and skills required to protect their clinical and financial integrity of the practice and bring peace of mind.

Areas Covered in the Session:

  • Sharpen communications skills - words matter: say what you mean to say
  • Understand aspects of risk management
  • Explore how the patient could be better served while protecting the integrity of the practice
  • Discover that healthcare fraud does not have to be intentional to be prosecuted
  • Learn how proper diagnostics and documentation will help keep you out of court
  • Recognize the significance of comprehensive diagnostic information
  • Find out which patients are "keepers", and who's not

Who Will Benefit:
  • Dentists and all dental team members stress that the Dr should attend because this topic is serious and can result in disiplanary action or incarceration

Speaker Profile
Theresa Sheppard is a Registered Dental Assistant, Speaker, Consultant, and Author, with experience in all clinical and administrative aspects of the dental practice.
