NIH (National Institutes of Health), under significant pressure, has decided to
review its current policy which defines & regulates awardee conflicts of interest. A Senate oversight committee has expressed growing concern that NIH rules are lax, and not rigorously enforced. Examples cited have largely involved pharmaceuticals, but evolving NIH rules will apply to all grant recipients. The process to develop this new policy is likely to take 6-12 months. There will be ample opportunity for input!
