The Cutting Edge of Medical Technology Content, Community & Collaboration

Colleagues,

As reported in the Puget Sound Business Journal ... The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Monday is funding 81 grants worth $100,000 each for “unconventional global health research projects.”

The Seattle foundation awarded the grants to researchers in 17 different countries, on “novel” approaches to treat diseases such as HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, pneumonia and diarrheal diseases.

In October, the foundation gave away $10.4 million in the first round of similar grants.

More than 3,000 proposals were received in the second round, according to the foundation. The grants are funded from Grand Challenges Explorations, a five-year, and $100 million initiative supported by the Gates Foundation.

More information on the grants, read on at: http://www.grandchallenges.org/explorations/Pages/Introduction.aspx

ENJOY!
