On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck southern Haiti. This is the most violent earthquake that Haiti has experienced in a century. President Obama has directed his administration to respond with swift, coordinated, and aggressive efforts to save lives.

Families of missing Americans living in Haiti are encouraged to contact the State Department at 888-407-4747.
