As reported by Washington Business Journal ... Maryland plans to open one of two state-funded bioscience centers in the Shady Grove Life Sciences Park in Rockville in the next month. Montgomery County officials said they host roughly 350 of the state’s more than 400 biotech companies, making them an apt choice for the maiden center.

The first of the two planned centers is already starting up in the World Trade Center in Baltimore with roughly a dozen staffers. State officials expect the two, totaling about $5 million in startup funds, to be of similar size, each serving as a one-stop shop for biotech industry resources and advice.
