Defense Department Moves Forward With Personal Health Records (PHR)s

As reported in InformationWeek ... After a successful pilot, the Department of Defense is looking to expand its MiCare personal health record service. The system will allow military members, their families and veterans to access their PHRs through Internet services, such as Microsoft HealthVault and Google Health.

Aetna was recently awarded the TriCare North contract, beating out incumbent HealthNet. It will be interesting to see if Aetna's interest in PHR "exports" to DoD beneficiary population.
