As reported in Washington Business News...SRA International Inc. won a $21-million contract to provide program development, management and support to the National Center for Public Health Informatics.

The Fairfax-based technology services provider (NYSE: SRX) won the three-year contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Public health informatics is the systematic application of information technology and computer sciences to public health practice, research and learning.

Under the contract, which involves a series of 12 task areas, SRA will provide technical, program and management services to help enhance the availability of health data and the adoption of public health information standards across the public health community.

SRA also supports several informatics-related programs for CDC, including BioSense, the BioIntelligence Center, and the vaccine adverse event reporting system.
