Thank you to MedTechIQ member, Dr Rob Pion, MD for this post...as reported in iHealthbeat...The Rockefeller Foundation, the Vodafone Foundation and the United Nations Foundation recently launched a new alliance aimed at using mobile and computer technology to improve health care in developing countries, VOA News reports.
The creation of Mobile Health Alliance, or mHealth, was announced during the Mobile World Congress held this week in Barcelona, Spain. Claire Thwaites, head of the U.N. and Vodafone Technology Partnership, said that technology has many health applications, such as text messaging programs to improve public awareness about diseases like HIV/AIDS or malaria.
