Yes, indeed, 297 hospitals use some form of Social Media in the healthcare market sector. In the United States alone, the statistics are as follows:

• 231 have Twitter accounts
• 142 have YouTube-channels
• 80 have Facebook-pages

Are you surprised? I was until I realized that 60 Million consumers are interacting with social media to get the medical information they need and share their healthcare experiences. This is very true even in Sub Saharan Africa with increasing availability of connectivity as well as cellphones, many health professionals are now sharing medical information of patients, prior and after treatment
