As reported in Healthcare IT News ... The Center for Connected Health, led by MedTech-IQ Member Dr. Joseph Kvedar, MD, a part of Partners Healthcare system in Boston, is launching a new company to allow self-insured employers to help employees manage their own health.
The mission of the new business is to give patients the tools to be their own doctor ... In this case, the tool is a wireless blood pressure cuff that allows employees with high blood pressure to monitor it at home and upload the readings to their doctor via a health portal.
The business is an outgrowth of a pilot program with IT corporate giant EMC, that was so successful that EMC will become the new organization's first customer ... the Partners HealthCare system will also become a client, and several other New England employers are likely prospects.

The leadership of Joseph Kvedar, Joseph Ternullo and Doug McClure (all MedTech-IQ members) have established themselves as national thought leaders at the intersection of where information technology meets 21st Century healthcare delivery. It is great to see them now translating their successes to the commercial sector, as well. Joe Kvedar and Connected Health co-founder Doug McClure are now looking for venture capital, investments and a CEO.
