U.S. NSF (National Science Foundation) to use $733 million of 2010 budget for Biological Sciences

The National Science Foundation plans to use $733 million of its $7.05 billion budget proposal for fiscal 2010 to fund its Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) programs, including initiatives that increase funds for research and education grants by 13%, for instrumentation and research resources by 6%, and funding for its Centers Programs by 18%...Support through the NSF's BIO program provides 69 percent of federal funding for non-medical, basic research at academic institutions in life sciences...
