Apple finally released its new line of laptop computers.
Rumors of "Blue-ray" drive and $800 Macs were baseless; after announcement, the
stock market was clearly disappointed, and punished equity shares. The price on entry-level (model unchanged) MacBook were reduced to $999. All other laptops were redesigned. Steve Jobs called the $1299
MacBook the 'sweet-spot' for Apple. New features include: 'unibody' aluminum frame, all glass screen, LED display, glass trackpad, more accessible hard disc, and NVidia chip set for graphics. An early problem for some is the loss of a Firewire port on the new MacBook. The $1999 MacBook Pro will have a FW800 port, but price of entry for Firewire has thus become significant. The entire
'Steve Jobs Show' is available for viewing on Apple's WWW site [Note: Rumors of Jobs' declining
health abound; the physician in me can't help but see him as 'cachetic']. Also see
