MedTech I.Q.

The Cutting Edge of Medical Technology Content, Community & Collaboration

We're researching ways of warning clinicians of upcoming hypotensive episodes during intensive care.

Our project is led by six of Europe's leading neurosurgery centre's and currently focused on TBI patients.

For our clinicians, the ability to be on hand and intervene immediately an episode is noticed will offer new opportunities to improve outcomes and reduce health care costs.

Where I'd like some help is in understanding whether hypotension is generally seen as a problem during intensive care of all types of treatment, and particularly in the USA.

If a sufficient need exists for this type of alerting (before the event) which will be the best way to offer technology solutions to healthcare providers?

Steve,

I forwarded your query into the "Traumatic Brain Injury - TBI" focus group in MedTech-IQ, http://medtechiq.ning.com/group/traumaticbraininjurytbi. We'll see if we get an answer in that venue. Some of the MedTech-IQ members are former and active trauma care researchers. I think you should get a cogent response soon.
