The Cutting Edge of Medical Technology Content, Community & Collaboration

Graphics chip developer, Nvidia, announced a new offering it describes as a "Personal Super Computing" architecture, based on its proprietary 'Tesla' product. This technology promises to provide extraordinary "horsepower" right to the user desktop. AMD and Intel are developing similar techologies (although Intel's design appears more conventional). This market-space is still very much in an evolutionary state, but may dramatically effect the need for main-frames to provide massive parallel processing capability to researchers and others who have traditionally relied on "queuing" for access to currently available super-computers. The impact on medical R&D is inevitable!
