The Cutting Edge of Medical Technology Content, Community & Collaboration

Economic Forum's inaugural mHealth summit of the Future of Mobile Communications Global Agenda Council, chaired by our own CEO, Dr. Paul Jacobs.
Best known for its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the World Economic Forum brings together the best and the brightest in politics, business and academia to tackle the world’s toughest challenges. It approaches these issues from global, regional and industry perspectives and convenes yearly conferences dedicated to tackling a problem. It’s here in San Diego at the end of the month that a topic near and dear to
our heart with be confronted: advancing mHealth.
Qualcomm has a long history with mHealth, pioneering the wireless health care market in 2003 when we partnered with CardioNet to introduce a fully mobile, continuous cardiac monitoring service for diagnostics.
Since then, we’ve gone on to co-found the West Wireless Health Institute – one of the world’s first medical research organizations devoted to using wireless technologies to promote wellness – and helped vastly improve healthcare at remote clinics in places like Peru and Thailand through mobile and Internet connectivity.
Qualcomm’s ultimate belief is that mHealth is about making healthcare more personal, and that in doing so, it empowers users to take control of their own health.
Due to our history in the mHealth space it was no surprise when the World Economic Forum named Paul as Chairman of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Mobile Communications – but it was a huge honor.
As Chairman, Paul will guide key leaders in the health industry, policy makers, academics, institutions, trade associations, solution providers and mobile operators in discussions that will have a very real
impact on the future of our health.
Stay tuned for updates on (and outcomes from) the Advancing mHealth Summit, which will take place on Monday, June 28, in San Diego.
