GE & Orlando diagnostics firm ink $16M African deal

The Orlando Business Journal reports that Amber Diagnostics landed a contract worth $16 million to provide new General Electric Healthcare diagnostic equipment to a hospital chain in the Republic of Cameroon — a deal that will result in 15 new local jobs and 25 in Africa.

Federal Agency - HRSA - Awards $18.9M in Grants for EHRs & Health IT

HHS' Health Resources and Services Administration awarded $18.9 million in grants to help 25 organizations implement electronic health records and other health IT, Government Health IT reports.

HRSA officials said the grants will help meet the Bush administration's goal for most U.S. residents to have EHRs by 2014.

Telemedicine Project Targets Rural Areas in Northern Pakistan

Wal-Mart Offers Employees Personal Health Records

iHealthBeat reports that Wal-Mart is offering some of its employees personal health records using technology from WebMD Health and Dossia, an employer coalition.
